I'‘m Clare!

The Heart & Soul of Clare Gratz Photography

photographer. lover of chaos. professional baby snuggler. diet coke addict.

I’m a lifestyle and family newborn photographer living in Batesville, a small town in Southeastern Indiana. I love Jesus, my family, my friends, and photography. That pretty much makes up my life right there.

Most days you’ll find me in the studio snuggling your babies, out in a field photographing your family at sunset, or cozied up at the computer editing, drinking a Diet Coke, and watching Friends. I love to travel and I’m constantly planning out my next trip. If I could spend the day anywhere, it would be at the beach. I would eat donuts everyday of my life if I could. Oh and any day the sun is shining, I’m happy.

I started obsessively teaching myself everything I could about photography my junior year of high school. Hours of watching Youtube videos, reading tutorials, and practicing. I made everyone I knew model for me.. my sisters, friends, the neighbors. If they were willing, chances are they were in front of my camera. After years of practice and portfolio building sessions, I decided to make things official. In 2016, Clare Gratz Photography was launched.

My sessions have always been just a little bit different than others. Not only will we create beautiful photographs, I want to create beautiful memories! My goal for every photo session is to have so much fun, that even the most unwilling participants leave with a smile on their face. We laugh, dance, play games. We have SO much fun and it shows in your images.

You’re worried your kids won’t cooperate or will be crazy? No worries, I thrive on chaos. In fact, I love it. Why? Because that is where the magic happens. I want your moments. Those moments that you don’t even realize you’re going to miss, the moments that you will long for again in the future.. those are the moments I want to capture.

Time is so fleeting. I feel like the years are flying by and moments and memories are slipping through my fingers. I can’t imagine how having kids speeds that up times a million. I do however know that time cannot be stopped, but you can have these moments captured in a photograph to look back on forever + ever. That has been my mission ever since. I mean, I get to capture your families memories as my job. That is something that I will never take lightly and it so much more than a job to me. My “clients” leave our session with a hug and a new friend.. and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
